Not surprisingly, it turns out my priest was a pothead, blow-king pedophile.

I've been going to planning meetings (an excuse to drink) for my 30th high school reunion this fall and found out the priest that trained me to be an alter boy ended up a coke-head pedophile. This is a link of the priest's names, just from A to D, that were caught up in the Archdiocese of Boston sex abuse scandals.

Scroll down to the "Buntel affair" (See below for the excerpt). He was at Christ the King in Hudson, MA from 1971 thru 1978. I grew up just up the street from that church and was an alter boy there from around '72 to '74. I remember him as a kind, young priest who always looked stoned (squint eyed with a shit-eating grin) and that he always wanted his chalice literally filled up with alter wine compared to the other priests. He would then down it like a shot. I also remember young Sister Alice (my 6th grade teacher) use to beam like a dog in heat when ever he came by for a visit to class. Luckily, I guess I wasn't his type.

It's amazing how long the diocese bounced him around until he was finally kicked out in 2002. It's even more amazing how many priests there were just from A to D and some of the payouts abuse victims have received.. And what happened to Cardinal Law of Boston? He was promoted to the Vatican to be one of Ratzi's right hand men.

Buntel affair Rev. Richard M. Buntel, ordained 1971, was known to local youth as “Father Pothead” and the “Blow King.” Buntel was reported by fellow priests to the archdiocese in 1983, amid allegations that he was distributing cocaine to young parishioners in the small Massachusetts town of Malden. Eleven years later he was accused of performing sex acts in exchange for cocaine. A secret payment of $55,000 was made to a young man. Treated at Our Lady's Hall 1983 after complaints of drugs and personal problems; drugs and boys date to 1971-78 assignment. Removed and evaluated at St. Luke's 1994; reevaluated there 1997. In 1999 Buntel, after a period on “administrative leave,” was transferred to another parish, removed 2002.

Anon boy affair Accused 1994 of abusing boy 1979-85 from age 14. Provided cocaine; showed boy violent porn; abused him often, including oral sex. Buntel admitted drug use; colleagues saw porn; Buntel claims sex was 1984-85 only. Settled 5/96 for $55K.
Homeless man abuse Accused 2002 of repeatedly abusing homeless man aged 21.
