In this blog post, I propose that its actually impossible to love someone if there is an external threat that exists to compel you to love the person (IE they will kill you, or you will die, or your kids will die, or you wont get the 5 million dollar prize at the end of the show etc.)

If, on the other hand, you are willing to endure eternal torment to be with them and give up eternity in heaven with all the comfort and wealth you could possibly imagine, then THAT would be amazing love.

In short, no one truly loves god, at all. He is a lonely, petty bully who only has pretend friends.

What greater love has a person than this, that they would suffer eternal torment in hell to be with them?

I agree, God (if he existed) must indeed be a lonely, petty bully who only has pretend friends. Nicely put.

Something else I've been thinking though is that his try hard relationship with children has more than a passing resemblance to "grooming". Wiki says "To establish a good relationship with the child and the child’s family, a child groomer might do several things. For example, they might take an undue interest in someone else’s child, to be the child’s “special” friend to gain the child’s trust. They might give gifts or money to the child for no apparent reason (toys, dolls, etc.).". Special friend, presents for the child on his son's birthday, chocolate eggs at Easter.....it's grooming and all a bit icky if you ask me.

I have a friend whose 7 year old son believes he has conversations with Jesus and the mother believes it and encourages him to believe it too. She is so proud.

ARGH!
