Yesterday I tried to add a group that would have serious conversations about marijuana. During these rough economic times, I think it's pertinent to discuss a cash crop as lucrative and easily cultivated as marijuana is. Not to mention the medical benefits that marijuana has been proven to offer, the non-narcotic form of marijuana, hemp, can be cultivated for uses such as paper, cloth, textiles, soap, shampoo, rope...you name it, hemp can do it. This is a "drug" that was made legal in the US during at least three major wars just long enough to reap its benefits and is legally grown in places such as Canada and England (again, this form of marijuana does NOT contain any narcotic properties).

My group was NOT approved by the "powers that be" over this website. If this is going to be a "talk about hating religion and talk about hating religion ONLY community, I don't need it. I can express myself more freely on Facebook.

Thanks for reading.

I'll do that, CJ...thanks for the support. I'm hoping it's just still being determined, but at first it said "approval pending" and then it was just gone.

Well, now I kind of hope they denied it...now that I've made such a fuss about it :)

I'd love to discuss this, but apparently there is no room for this kind of discussion on A/N and I'm so mad!!!

Ok, but you do bring up excellent points. I have some great quotes from some of our founding fathers and other historical figures that I would love to share, just to give a bit of perspective as to how the original Americans viewed this topic as well.

I don't think it's that they don't know how to tax it...they could tax it the same way they do cigarettes or medical necessities. One problem I would see is that one million incarcerated individuals in this country would be let out and THAT "resource" would be left in the cold. There are economies of entire towns dependent on prison employment, and thus have staggering conviction rates. Also, the "war on drugs" is one of the most utilized nonsensical phrases that our leaders insist on referencing while going over their "accomplishments".

That's a shame. I'm surprised with the site for rejecting such a group. I don't see why exactly they didn't allow it. I would be interested in joining a group to discuss marijuana. Maybe you should try e-mailing the site people and asking what gives. There is a quite diverse selection of groups on this site, and I'd hate to see that curbed.

once legalized, the price will drop.
No, it doesn't make sense... why are tobacco and alcohol still legal? that's hypocrisy. oh, I know the answer. Tobacco has been America's friend since slavery; alcohol is as old as bread, last time "we" made it illegal shit hit the fan.

"the government doesn't know how to tax it...or they would legalize it." {what a pot head 'friend' says}
