Isn't loving the lord great: Catholic School Teacher Fired for Marriage

first, I don't get it when people who, in most cases, know what they crazy, insane religion is about, yet complain when these moronic religious laws touches their lives.
Take the case of this Catholic school teacher for example, loosing her livelihood for marrying a divorced man.

"She told the San Antonio Express-News that the firing took some of the joy out of the preparations for the marriage."

"I couldn't get out of bed. It's just been this cloud. It was supposed to be the best week of my life, and I had to pull myself together for the ceremony"
she said.

In addition, she said "I would have resigned if I'd felt like I'd done something wrong."

Come on, she must have known she was violating her church's moronic rule, after all she might have been a Catholic from childhood. In fact, "The principal of Central Catholic High School urged Marquis LaFortune, 25, a week before her wedding in November to resign or to have her husband-to-be seek an annulment of his first marriage, options she turned down."

I can't fill sorry for you because you chose to accept these insane-ic religious beliefs as the guide for your life. On the other hand, I can side with you, you were not doing anything wrong. After all, the man was already divorced (is a legal process that leads to the termination of a marriage), and what the "hell" is annulment any way? Isn't divorced means that you no longer married, it is null and void.

The funny thing, and you fundamentalist refuse to take a had critical look at it, is the fact that your God himself make pregnant (by whatever means) a woman while she was, according to your bible, engaged to another man, yet he was not fired.

I had an uncle who is Catholic and had his first marriage annulled so he could marry a different woman in the church after his first wife ran off with someone else. It entailed donating a large sum of money to the church to get his annulment. Basically it is akin to making a large campaign donation to a politician in order to get a pardon.

My wife's uncle is still trying after more than 10 years to get the Catholic Church to recognize annul his first marriage. They don’t even got to a Catholic Church.

I don’t understand why the woman in the story is upset. She knew this would happen. If you can follow the dogma get out the church.

I don't feel sorry for her. No pity whatsoever. She has helped support that institution, and she got what she deserved. To me, it's kind of like when gays vote for anti-gay republicans (or democrats for that fact), but one cannot deny that the dems are mor inclusive.

Too bad she wasn't in a same sex marriage. Then the church would not have recognised it in the first place, so they couldn't fire her. right?

FYI: Annulment is different from divorce in that it declares that the original marriage was somehow invalid (one or parties were legally unable to wed at the time, the marriage was never consummated, or some irregularity with the proceedings) and therefore said persons were never married, rather than in a divorce where they were once married and are now no longer so.
Quibbling like that is pathetic isn't it¿
