This is one of the only times I have been happy about the spread of any religion. Here is why. Islam has gained so much favor in poor areas of China and is rapidly spreading. It's spreading so rapidly that soon there will be more Muslim Chinese than Muslim Arabs. What does that mean? Well it's already starting to happen, the Chinese are going to turn Islam over on it's head. It's inevitable that any culture which adopts another cultures customs or belief systems tweaks it to suit their own culture and their own ideals. As of now the Chinese are allowing women to be imams (Islamic priest) which is strictly forbidden in Saudi Arabia the hub of the Muslim world. Women imams are only the start though, in short time I foresee the Chinese incorporating their own cultures values, superstitions, and ideals on Islam effectively turning it upside-down. Now this new version of Islam might be as stupid as the old one, but it's sure to piss a lot of Muslims off. What's next for the future of Chinese Islam? Arabs like to believe that Mohamed wrote the Qu'ran but was illiterate so it was a "miracle"..some how I think the Chinese who place a lot of value on education won't like that...I can't wait for them to make a statement to Saudi clerics like "No Mohamed wasn't illiterate...he was smart...and good at math...we like that better".

It's hard to find much info on the Hui (ethnic Han Muslims) of today in regards to female Imams,

but I did find the following on Wikipedia

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hui_people#Unique_Islamic_practices

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Women_as_imams#China

Everywhere else people have reacted meekly to this fast spreading menace, be it the US or Europe. Lets see how the Chinese take it.

I'm wondering why they are converting. What's the appeal?

Sometimes it looks like all the world religions are merging and getting absorbed into Islam or Christianity conglomerate.

If atheism is the future of humanity, man are we in the dark ages.

Well if Islam is to exist, I think I'll try my luck with what the Chinese are going to do with it. I would love to walk into a mosque and see that big gold cat statue that's outside of all the Chinese take-out places. Who knows, this might be hilarious.

Wow I didn't know this. What intrigues me about this is that now there will be WAY more muslims than Christians. Anything bad for Christianity I'm all for, but this might be like... well I can't find the analogy I was looking for, but I'll say jumping out of the frying pan and into the fire. A billion.5 MORE religious nuts to deal with?! Holy crap!!
