Please have a look at Yuletide Foundation; Toward a Civic (& Secular) Observance of Winter Solstice: http://tinyurl.com/jultid

This is a proposal for a secular celebration of Winter Solstice meant to be used across society, but especially in the public forum; say goodbye to the preference of Christianity but also to the antiseptic use terms like "Holiday Tree" (which one?). Designed for English-speaking societies, but the idea can easily be adapted to other cultures as well.

We have a little less than a year to make this a reality, let develop the petition process to influence policy.

Thank you River Otter!

I think the first step is to develop a petition that can be placed on the site for interested parties to use as a guide in contacting their political leaders, and second is to inform certain groups both Naturalist (Atheist) and others who might have a stake in forwarding such an idea. Later steps might involve collaborating with artists to create cards and other material that can be sold on site, the profits of which to go toward further exposure of the idea to the general public. ~ Darwin Penda

I like this idea. Where do we get started?
