the Occasional Comment on the theme and variations of dogmatic belief in the utterly impossible idea of Heaven, a place with Pearly Gates (I knew her when) and an ancient bearded loon named Peter who decides whether the "soul" is going to rest within or in the other place. References to "the Lord" are of course trinitarian: these sheep know it's three in one but explaining the Holy Ghost part is invading the property of the Church. In one morning's examination of the San Antonio Express-News, I found the following:
"Went to be with the Lord"
"Embraced God" and
"Went home to be with our Lord in Heaven"
But I am still collecting. I've seen worse. These people want to believe that their loved one is close at hand, else why do some publish "One Year Ago, You Went to Be With the Lord" and like display ads costing lots. Do these people think their loved one is listening to them in Heaven?
