I simply did not know where to post this, and i don't know if you've seen it before.

Having been brought up by Catholics i find the similarities between the behaviour patterns in all three Abrahamic faiths seriously, seriously disturbing. I'm just going to put up a link i found in Jihad Watch from 2006 not knowing if it's old news. Even so as the goatherders begin to force sharia law upon this country it is perhaps even more relative today. Incisive, scholarly and a very thought provoking discussion.http://www.frontpagemag.com/articles/Read.aspx?GUID=473928E3-18E1-4...

fletch: Your statement "But in many ways the treatment of women in the islamic world in general and by many Muslims that have emmigrated is far viler than what South Africa did to the blacks."
A true statement but I would suggest it is worse. The S. African blacks at least had refuge in their own communities (shabby though they were)
where they could temporarily escape the oppressive elements of apartheid.

Muslim women have little or no refuge from the oppressive sharia law and idiotic cultural traits (honor killings, genital mutilation, morality police, etc).
The "let's all get along" crowd are oblivious to the physical and mental damage that millions of women are exposed to. Further, they are deluded in the extreme if they think the "get along" shit has any meaning to the fundi fanatics.

Hi David. First, thanks for being considerate enough to even pause to consider where's the right place to post something. The blogs are generally for when you need to cough up some personal spleen, opinion piece or some story of your travels and experiences. Not generally good if you want to initiate an extended discussion. The forum is better for that (there are discussions there that have lasted a year or more), it's easier to track and blogs tend to fall off the main page in a day or so. There are also specific interest groups for pretty much anything. This chart is a pointer for where to post what for best results. There's a site search widget in most pages that's embedded in most pages. It's the same as

this. There are more effective ways to search in the FAQs.
I haven't seen your link before, but it's sickeningly familiar the world over. We have our own downunder. It's not really related, but these stories always make me think of South Africa and apartheid. The world rose as one to stop that. But in many ways the treatment of women in the islamic world in general and by many muslims that have emmigrated is far viler than what South Africa did to the blacks. Yet there is nothing but silence. To broach the topic or raise your voice only invites accusations of racism and islamophobia. It is pushing shit uphill. This is disgusting moral cowardice and, unfortunately, those that are the most responsible for it are those that have hijacked the term "humanist" (and divorced themselves from the roots of the movement). The silence you hear in response to stories like this has a name - it's called "tolerance" and "inclusiveness" and "cultural understanding". I prefer to describe it more as a dog rolling over on it's back and pissing itself in terror.

But what can you do? They own the stage and have a monopoly on the ticket booth.
