There seems to be no topic on this so I thought I’d write it as my first blog post. I have gotten some positive feedbacks on my page so I thought I’d share the code with everyone. I have an old CSS code that seems to do the trick. No, I am not a coder.


So, if you are bored with the default Ning themes and is in the mood for a little experimentation, why not personalize your page? You will never run out of themes to choose from and play with that will suit your mood and taste. But, before you change your existing layout, I suggest you take a quick look at my page and see if you like what I did.

What You Need:

1. desktop wallpaper 1024x768 size in jpg format (I use 1024x704)
2. file hosting – I use ImageShack (free, no need to register)
3. Upload the file to ImageShack; Note the url from where it says Direct Link. Example:
http://img268.imageshack.us/img268/8407/earthdesktopwallpaper.jpg


What To Do:

On Appearance page, there are 3 tabs – Basic theme, All Options, and Advanced.

1. In Advanced Options, copy and paste the CSS code below. Copy/Paste the url from ImageShack inside the parenthesis where it says background-image:url
2. In All Options, under Colors, set all to Transparent (type the word Transparent where transparent option is not available, then click “OK”.) Set all Images to None. Leave “Icons” as is – “white” (or you may prefer to change this later)
3. Save!
4. Customize Text and Media colors to your preference.
5. Save again.
