Your part in the making of a Tacoma movie
Dear Friends and Family,
On February 20th of this year I started writing a screenplay. I assigned myself as director, and asked my friend Sarah Mangum to help out in the production of filming the screen play. We formed Aroma Films.
Before the script was finished, we enlisted the help of other friends and acquaintances to make the best movie we could. The support we have received is beyond what I could have imagined. The script was finished, the rolls cast (most of them anyway), and a date has been set to begin filming.
The movie that I envisioned has grown into something more than I expected. We have an all volunteer cast and crew. We received a grant from the City of Tacoma in the form of a store front to film in that we get, rent free, for three months. Filming of "Jesus 4 Less" begins July 16th.
We have received loads of technical advice from people in the film community. I have learned so much in the last few months. One of the things I learned, in particular, is that making a feature length film is expensive, even with an all volunteer cast and crew. We have to pay for insurance, feed the cast, get some important filming equipment, electric bills, props, ect.
This brings me to where you can help. I am asking friends and family to help us finish this project and make a movie worthy of the big screen. We start filming July 16th. (My birthday is July 14th, hint, hint.) We are asking for donations.
We know some people are financially strapped right now. We are not asking for a lot. Any amount you can afford, even one dollar, will help.
We would like a donation of $20. I know you are asking “What’s in it for me?” If you weren’t asking that, go ahead and ask yourself that now. Well I’m glad you asked. For a $20 donation you will get your name in the credits of the movie and the satisfaction of knowing you helped make a movie. Ok, fine, we’ll throw in a DVD of the movie when it’s done.
If you love this idea and wish you could do more, you can. Fifty dollars helps two and a half times more than $20. So we’ll throw in a “Jesus 4 Less” t-shirt and put your name in the credits bigger than the $20 people.
Whether you donate $20 or $50, you can feel good about a few things: the recognition you will receive in the film, our gifts to you in return, our deep gratitude, and the fact that you are supporting the local economy and the artistic/creative endeavors of your community.
In order to make a donation, you can send a check or money order made out to me, Aaron Flett, to 1936 s. G st. Tacoma WA, 98405. We also have a paypal account you can use if that is easier. Donations anytime are helpful, though they will be most helpful if they are sent before July 10th. Oh yeah and you can make your donation tax deductable if you’d like.
If you simply do not have any money to spare but really want to contribute in some other way, send me an email and we can talk about how you might be able to be involved.
Thanks,
Aaron “Bubba” “Riggs”
