Hellfire and buggery! I lost a facebook friend to Atheism.

Sorry mate, mocking my choice of religion isn't a good thing. I'm going to remove you from my friend's list. Peace.

Don't send flowers. *sniff*

I wonder if incorrect use of an apostrophe is a hell-worthy? It should be.

I demand if I am going to be told to 'fuck off', it should be done so grammatically.

Thanks Diego, yeah I've encountered the dubiously authentic "peace" before.

I responded but only to query which particular thing it was I'd done that was responsible and to gently critique the protest he was making.

While I was dealing with him however, I got someone commenting on the video, I think was responsible.

You can read all about that in Part II

Nothing new under the sun, I've seen many non-believers tell stories about being unfriended for their lack of beliefs. It's funny how the ex friend says "peace", when it is obvious that he can't stand you expressing your ideas and has to take you out of his/her sight.

Did you respond? Have you thought about making the message public?

I mirrored a video(from here) about homosexuality and titled it "More giggles at Christian's expense" (a double entendre - the character in the cartoon is called "Christian" and is made to voice the opinions of people who think being gay is wrong/ a sin etc)

No sooner had that gone up then the message above arrived in my inbox so I presume he was reacting to that.

so I think he rather took offence at my irreligious tone rather than me going out-and-out to attack him specifically.

I also have over 2000 facebook friend - a consequence of foolishly signing up to email add lists for some of the web-games on there - so I don't really know this person, rather they whoever they are obviously got the update from my page and just reacted by spurning me.

Frankly not a great loss but still memorable as the first time it's happened to me.

My FAcebook profile actually says:

Religious views: Godless Heretic, Atheist, Rationalist, Anti-theist, Free-thinker, Naturalist

and has a link back to my profile here, so I don't think I leave much room for doubt over what I think.

Actually mocking someone is active. Just having "Atheist" listed in your profile is passive. I'm just curious if Richard's ex-friend was offended by the passive listing. I've put "Freethinker" to make anyone go look it up.

Umh...is that actually a difference to most theists? Last I checked they usually deem the very existence of atheism a mockery of their own faith. Go figure.

Did you actually mock his religion of choice or did he just get offended by your "religious views"?

Oh, I think it's a very reasonable demand. I'm sure the apostrophe would agree, I doubt being constantly misplaced sits too well with it.
