Just a reminder
A heathen is a pagan not a godless individual otherwise known as a atheist. Not there is anything wrong with being a pagan (I personally like their ideals) but I feel the misusage of the term adhere's to christian orthodoxy and as such not be a term used to identify atheist ideology (or similar).

Heathenry
See
http://www.bbc.co.uk/religion/religions/paganism/subdivisions/heathenry_1.shtml
and
http://www.paganfed.org/pagan-heath.php

the essence of being a Heathen is that you don’t subscribe to Christian beliefs, however you have deity.
Ergo you are not an atheist
I.e. without a god(s)

Glad you brought that up - its something I've been meaning to raise for a while. Technically, "heathen" is narrower in scope than "pagan". It literally means "not Christian or Jewish" and its usage is usually in reference to Nordic / Teutonic pagans. "Pagan" is an all encompassing term for all non-Judaic religious practice, most prominantly Wicca. Thus all heathen are pagan, but not all pagan are heathen. Neither are godless in any way.
