Comment by Prog Rock Girl on December 27, 2010 at 10:00am I remember cleaning house for an elderly lady who got to complaining about Obama's socialism, the horror of "socialized" healthcare, etc. "What do you know about his health plan?" she asked. "I know I don't have health insurance," I said. She also said FDR was a "goddamn socialist", despite reaping the benefits of social security. Either people like this don't realize their hypocrisy, or are afraid that other people might take away what they have.
Comment by BILL J HOLLOWAY on December 27, 2010 at 9:43am Juliet, I enjoyed the story about your dad's health insurance and had to laugh out loud at your PS:
The fact that you are willing to marry (not would like to meet?) a Canadian gentleman of a certain age that likes cats I hope is a joke. I unfortunately am an American by birth (unqualified) too old, 66 and a dog lover (because I was raised with them). I know a happily married older couple, he is an atheist and she is very religious. How do they do it? They really like each other as people so they don't talk about religion. Kind of like don't ask and don't tell for gays.
RELATIONSHIPS ARE ABOUT COMPROMISE, without it you wouldn't even make a good roommate
You just have to meet a nice guy that you really like being with and he will put up with your cats and you will put up with his dogs, and who knows you may both become better people for it.
