So, today is Thanksgiving. Between the attacks in Mumbai and the watching of the documentary Why We Fight last night and ruminating on our nation's scary, heart-dropping Capitalistic military industrial complex, it's hard to find big things to be thankful for, let alone to have much hope. But I'll give it a shot.

I am thankful for my son.
I am thankful for the sun, moon, earth, and universe.
I am thankful I am alive.
I am thankful I don't have to live in Mumbai.
I am thankful I have enough money to feed my offspring.
I am thankful for the roof over my head.
I am thankful for being raised non-religious
I am thankful for my damn cats and dogs.
I am thankful I can see, hear, touch, taste, and smell.
I am thankful for places like Atheist Nexus and my Atheist meet groups.
I am thankful for the internet.
I am thankful Barack Obama will be president.
I am thankful for Science and all of the Scienticts.
I am thankful the Native Americans were not completely wiped out.
I am thankful for a shot at life on earth.

I posted the bulk of this on another thread, but wanted to add some context separately.

I finally confronted my faith and embraced the fact of my atheism late last August, 2012.
