You hear allot about being “green” lately. For those of you who may not know what I mean by “green” it basically means being environmentally friendly. While that is a good thing, there is allot of bullshit in this green movement. Many things that people think are “green” are in reality not “green” and in fact very bad for the environment.

I’ll start with the inspiration for this post: Allot of people (including Obama) think ethanol is “green” because it comes from plants grown on farms. It is not “green”. Most of the corn grown goes to ether animal feed or human consumption. This means that to get ethanol from corn more farms are needed to grow corn and even if you are not using corn, there still needs to be more farms.[...]

"Green" is current catch word in advertizing. I am amazed at the number things that are considered to be green. I don't know how many times I've yelled bullshit at my TV when an oil company is touting their "green" innovations.

Dammit! I should have put that in there. That is an excellent example. Trees used for paper and lumber take a long time to grow and these trees are grown on tree farms. In the time the trees suck up allot of CO2.

Lone Wolf, you have a good point about Green not always being "green", but I'd like to see statistics on bird window strikes and 100 million being killed by hunters.

I did find this, which had some statistics.
