Finger Salute to Bush.org

Having endured eight long years of misguided leadership on the part of the Bush Administration, it is with great regret and well-bridled enthusiasm that we orchestrate PEACEFUL CIVIL DISRESPECT, in the form of raised middle fingers, on a worldwide massive scale as common citizen George W. Bush ascends by helicopter from the White House on his return to private life following the inauguration of a new American leader.

In his incapacity as President, George W. Bush has effectively lied, cheated, and plundered. His actions in arrogance, ignorance, and/or full knowledge have resulted in many Lives Lost, Families Destroyed, and a World Compromised. To date, neither he, nor his accomplices, have been held accountable or take responsibility.

This planned outpouring of Civil Disrespect intends to graphically memorialize the true Bush Legacy. While the vast number of innocent lives lost is undiscussed, petitions are overlooked, and legislation is inconvenient, it is hoped that a common crude hand gesture can bring attention to neglected crimes, and back-handedly restore American credibility. The middle finger gesture has been selected as a near universal symbol of dissatisfaction. It is direct, paper-free, energy-conscious, clean, convenient, cost-effective, and available to all.

If successful, the minimal effort requested of the enlightened populus has a chance of long-lasting influence on the conduct of future governments and democracies to more consciously uphold ethical standards. All are asked to give serious consideration to what may at first appear to be merely provocative; however, this grass-roots effort aspires to be an unconventional approach to peacefully memorialize the unabashed malfeasance of this past administration.

For those who believe such a gesture is inappropriate or obscene, there is nothing more inappropriate or obscene than wholesale killing. Unless you believe that you are on track for some type of Sainthood, you have quite likely used such a gesture in the past – at least once. If such a gesture can be employed for trivial circumstances, certainly murder is worthy of such disdain.

Whether you are in Washington , across America , or around the globe, your participation, dissemination of information, photographic documentation, and follow-up to Congress and all media outlets will make a difference. As the Bush-Cheney team goes about with the audacity of glamorizing their official record, let the rest of us establish a new type of grand participatory world record to mark their departure.

In light of our recent history, we hope you will find this initiative merited, measured, and right for participation.

Yes, we can … HAVE ACCOUNTABILITY FOR A CHANGE!

Count me in. My digit will proudly fly high. I'm also going to throw a shoe in the direction of DC - just for good measure.
