A: Ok, us two are here, here to discuss atheism vs. christianity...
C: *AHEM* excuse me, but you didn't capitalize Christianity just then.
A: Ummm...this is a vocal debate, how am I suppose to capitalize something when I am speaking it?!?
C: That's not what I'm hear for, but I demand you treat me with equal respect, just because I have faith doesn't make me a lesser human being than you!
A: Fair enough, Atheists Vs. Christianity here in a vocal discussion, let us begin!
C: First off, God loves us all, and in his respects I capitalize the G in God on all ocassions when I speak of the Almighty, I expect the same respect from others who may believe different, otherwise it's essentially a hate crime against my beliefs, and Lord have mercy on the souls of THOSE people!!
(*cue mad bomber muslim bombing C's hometown for not mentioning Allah at all*)
A: Well, that's one thing to consider between our differences, we not only do not believe in your god, or any god; but for the most part, if we were to entertain the idea that there is a greater being, he either doesn't care, or he is nothing of the sort that any religion established understands, either way, it matters not a blink to us. If he exists, why is this god so fickle that he cares if we believe in him or not? He knows everything that is and will occur, so he knows there are those of his flock that will never have the capacity of faith...wouldn't it be a better idea to think that he's testing some of us by not granting us this capacity of faith, to see if we'll "go along" to fit in? I mean, if you want to go ahead and throw the 'I'd rather not chance hell' argument...wouldn't it be better to believe what one believes and not go along for the sake of the flock? Didn't god want his disciples and blessed and so forth to go along with what they believed despite imposition?
C: And lo it is written:
Mercy, peace and love be yours in abundance.
The sin and doom of Godless men
Dear friends, although I was very eager to write to you about the salvation we share, I felt I had to write and urge you to contend for the faith that was once for all entrusted to the saints. For certain men whose condemnation was written about long ago have secretly slipped in among you. They are godless men, who change the grace of our God into a license for immorality and deny Jesus Christ our only Sovereign and Lord.
5Though you already know all this, I want to remind you that the Lord delivered his people out of Egypt, but later destroyed those who did not believe. And the angels who did not keep their positions of authority but abandoned their own home—these he has kept in darkness, bound with everlasting chains for judgment on the great Day. In a similar way, Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding towns gave themselves up to sexual immorality and perversion. They serve as an example of those who suffer the punishment of eternal fire.
A: Did you just copy and paste that? From the internet?
C: What? Blasphemer!!! I'll not have you mock the holy word of God!!
A: Hey! You can tell when I didn't capitalize the 'g' in god, and I KNOW you probably just copy/pasted that...*sigh*...uh, okay, so that came from the bible?
C: Yes, it did, are you going to dodge answering the word of the Lord by criticizing the validity of His holy word?
A: Well, yea that too...but I was just about to mention how you completely dodged my question about some people just not having the capacity of faith-
C: No! You cannot respond against the Word of the Lord, instead you snake around hissing about your rationality and your logic; you will never understand! He loves us all, and yourself included, but if you choose to not believe than you will burn in eternal torment, praise Jesus!
A: Well see, that's just it, in the bible, in contemporary life, in logic and in rationality this christian god, and most other gods, just doesn't make sense to me; I can't help that it doesn't add up to me.
C: But it does to me, so it should to you, doesn't that help? That there's millions out there in the world who believe as I do?
A: There's millions out there that believe in Santa...they're called children, and most of them eventually learn on their own.
C: I'm not talking about santa, I'm talking about our Lord and Savior!
A: Which is the same as Santa to me!!
C: No! Oh dear you are a lost sheep among the flock, I will pray for you!
A: You pray for me, right here and now, go on, do it. While you do that, I will actually do something with my time instead of hoping. Tell ya what, while you pray, I'll carve a ballet dancer outta this chunk of wood I got here.
(Some moments pass)
C: Have you come to see the light yet?
A: No, but I have a great little figurine here, take it to your daughter. This shows that while your praying did nothing, my two hands actually did something.
C: Heathen! I'll take this, but I won't like it!
A: Oh yea, by the way, that'll be 10$ for the figurine.
C: What?!? But this entire debate is church sponsored, I thought it was an offering...for your salvation.
A: No dice, bud, my talent made that figurine, not your god and not your prayers. I eat and sleep and provide for my children on these talents, and not prayers or goodwills, 10$ if you please.
C: But, can't it be an offering for the Church? I mean, they're not taxed ya know, you could write it off as charity!
A: Which again, is something I believe in differently than you. As far as I'm concerned churches ought to pay taxes, my local VFW still has to pay theirs, as does almost any other organization that is not religion based; to me, freedom of church and state means no special privileges at all...that includes taxes, a church is a building, just like my business, it should be taxed.
C: Okay okay! Fine! Good thing the coffers were plentiful this past Sunday...
A: Gee, thanks for the roll of quarters...
