David Letterman has over the past few years ran a special segment on his show called "Great Moments in Presidential Speeches." With Bush getting the boot this coming Tuesday, he showed his last segment this past week. In addition, he showed some highlights from over the years.

I think many of us will wish the outgoing president a speedy exit, and hope that the door does indeed hit him in the ass on the way out.

It's quote mining, of course. And we don't like quote mining when Fundies use it. In this case, however, there are so many examples that it seems that dipping would be a better description than mining.

Serious question: What exactly, would an attorney know about creating a budget? Shouldn't that be done by somebody trained in financial management?

Shouldn't engineers decide the best way to solve a problem and not be forced into shoe-horning a faulty plan into a broken budget, both of which handed down to them by lawyers and politicians?

Maybe the amendment should state that only people trained to solve problems should be allowed to tackle them rather than people who are trained to argue a point of view better than an opponent. Along with this legalese should be banned from any document that is privy to public inquiry. Everyone should be able to understand it without having to go to law school. It should be clear and not open to interpretation by anyone, judge or otherwise. If the law/ruling/etc is causing some negative effect, it should be recrafted. This is how everything is built and tested. With a clear set of steps. If the steps do not work they are fixed. Really, do you want the engineer who is designing part of the next Boeing or Airbus jet to "interpret" the step or parameter of a part or do you want them to go back and get it clarified/rewritten by the person who wrote the document? Why is it any different in government?

I'm for an amendment which calls for allowing only attorneys to be assuring the bills from congress are finely crafted with the addition of stipulating that all budgets going forward must be balanced with NO exceptions.

What a complete and utter embarrassment he has been.
