Sometimes I like to visit CL - parts of it are like a Springer episode in words. And sometimes I like to post something to get people all riled up - and to make myself feel better. It's very cathartic! Lately, with the 40th anniversary of the walk on the moon, there have been quite a few posts about it being a hoax. So in response to those posts, I posted this:

I'm just curious as to how many of you, hoax supporters and non-hoax supporters alike, buy into religion? Because THAT is the biggest hoax of all times! So many people on here are calling others sheeple, when they themselves probably talk to their Invisible Sky Daddy every day! It would be funny, if it weren't so scary - all those people out there doing things in the name of religion (9/11 anyone? Irelands Catholics vs. Protestants?), because they can't or won't think for themselves. The Bible is the biggest bunch of hooey, next to the Koran, that the world has ever known, and yet so many allow themselves to be guided by it.

Who cares about the moon!? Look at the crap you believe in, all because it was force-fed to you as a child! So was Santa, but somehow you overcame that delusion! But wait, Santa doesn't send you to hell. Your entire belief system is built on fear. You buy into the holy book because it tells you to. Do you buy the things advertised on TV because it tells you to? Try to wrap your head around THIS hoax that you have believed in since childhood. Learn about MEMES, because you are infected with the most insidious meme there has ever been and you don't even know it. I was once a believer, too. Then I went against all that was taught to me, and actually started to question things. Keep in mind: religion claims to have all the answers, you just better not ask any questions. That’s how it keeps you in its grip.

Are you brave enough to question something that you have been so fully indoctrinated with that it will take all of your intellectual and emotional strength to overcome? Sadly, most of you aren’t. That should tell you something right there, but it probably won’t. But if you are ready to look into the world’s biggest hoax, I suggest checking out this site:
http://godisimaginary.com/

Kudos to those of you who have, or who are attempting to, overcome your brainwashing – you have courage beyond that of most humans.

As for the rest of you, I’ll just sit back and watch as the rants go by. And I’ll be thankful that you don’t have my address, because you “loving” Christians are the most vicious, hate-filled, immoral, judgmental segment of society I have ever come across.

Go ahead and pray for me, I’ll THINK for you.

Celtix, it isn't only O.R.U., as you no doubt realize. When I visited the christian Heritage Village many years ago in the Carolinas (Jim, Tammy Faye and Jessica Hahn's little money making set-up), the slight drug use/vast amounts of pre-marital sex was too much for me to comprehend. Instead, as everyone else did, I just continued denying it even happened. This is why so many of us generalize christians, because they'll always have a redeemer to excuse their contradictory ways and forgiveness is a given - making it easier to do wrong from the start.

You generalize Christians in the same manner they generalize atheists. "Your entire belief system is built on fear. You buy into the holy book because it tells you to." What good is it to argue against the demeanor of certain people when you exhibit the selfsame demeanor as the basis of your argument?

And the response? "And please spare me the 'not all christians' are like that. Because deep down I know they are." This is a fantastically ignorant statement from anyone claiming to possess a rational mind.

Also, the image of Calvin is the intellectual property of Bill Watterson, and he has not licensed its use for those "pissing" images. It's akin to Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed using the cellular activity simulations without permission for the reasons it wasn't intended for.

Shouldn't we try to be at least a little better than the people we criticize?

Ah, yes. I had never heard of that term, used in that context, until about 3 years ago, when my son was about 17. He used my computer, and forgot to cover his tracks. For a minute there I thought he was going to bake something for me. Boy, was I wrong.

For some reason (which I had absolutely nothing to do with) we discovered this on chat the other night. If you want people to notice on Craig's List, just add "cream pie" as keywords -

Results 1 - 10 of about 95,900 for craigslist +cream +pie.

Of course, if you click on that link, it's out of my hands.

And this is what my thank you note garnered:

"I LOVE YOU, I LOVE YOU, I LOVE YOU. I don't know you personally, but I can already say that I love you.
I can't say enough how refreshing it is to read and see someone in this area that is willing to fight the hypocritical
Christians. Thank you, thank you, thank you. There really are some people that can think for themselves, and not
be a number in the flock. I didn't think they existed in this area.

I have only lived in the Springfield/Branson area for the last 12 years. But I also spent 7 years in Tulsa. The worse
7 years of my life - Oral Roberts University. The ORU students were the biggest whores and drug dealers in that town.
And you are so right on the money about banging someone on Friday then apologizing on Sunday just to return to their
normal way on Monday. Ain't that the truth with these people?

Speaking of bumper stickers, I was toying around with an idea for one. How about Calvin peeing on a cross?. But as you said, my car,
home and personal belongings would probably be torched by the "holier than thou" self-serving, narrow minded Christians.

I would love to keep in touch with you if you're interested."

So of course, I told him about our group!

I'm shocked. This is the only response I've received all day, and it's POSITIVE!!

"FINALLY! Someone writes an intelligent response to you delusional sheep. The fact that over 50% of people in this country believe in "god" is sad. I do not deny SOME of the teachings in the bible are good lessons. Just be a good person. And if you need a god and devil to differentiate what is good and evil then you are doomed to begin with. It is too bad there is not a HELL for you religious zealots to burn in forever. But there isn't. So you jesus crispies get to judge and condemn people all of your holier than thou life. And please spare me the "not all christians" are like that. Because deep down I know they are. They are afraid of someone realizing the real truth about your scam and will quote scripture somehow thinking this will convince me of their view of reality. Think for yourself, question authority. "

I wrote them a thank you note.

You're right--"them" not having your address is a very good thing! Great post!
