Christopher Hitchens accepts the first Logidea University Honorary PhD In Heresy from Richard McCargar!

During the luncheon prior to the "Atheism Poisons Everything" debate held September 7th, 2010 in Birmingham, Alabama, Logidea U.'s Dean of the College of Heresy, R. H. McCargar presented the very first Ho

norary PhD In Heresy cum laude in Reason and Logic, to Christopher Hitchens. McCargar also gave an embroidered AntiTheist cap as well as two shirts: PhD In Heresy and AntiTheist to Mr. Hitchens.

Christopher Hitchens is not only an erudite best selling author, devastating to face in debate, he is fearless in opposing superstition and myth, just as he has been fearless in reporting from war-zones around the globe over several decades.

We could think of no one more deserving of the first Honorary PhD In Heresy than Mr. Hitchens. When asked to the Vatican to testify regarding Mother Theresa, Mr. Hitchens argued that Mother Theresa should not be canonized. Who but Hitch could strike out the pope with that pitch?

Christopher Hitchens has traveled the world, leaving Reason and Logic in his wake.

Now, what do you do? Earn and display your PhD In Heresy diploma, wear our heretical apparel in public, and the faithful will question you. These actions present an opportunity for you to explain why science, reason and logic are necessary to overcome superstition and myth.

You are correct. I was in the wrong store. I have had those conversations as well. Often times the other person is impervious to reason. I alternate between optimism and forget about it in the race against time.

@Glen Rosenber: Were you posting to the Hitchens award, or to the "Planting a seed of doubt" blog? I've had those conversations many times, and I have remained in contact with quite a few. As in any endeavor, you have some successes and failures. Even with those, you won't always know the ultimate outcome. But it is worth the effort. Wouldn't you agree?

I suggest you take the phone number of the brainwashed and follow up to see if the encounter is productive.
