For those of you looking for a way to help others, check out Kiva at www.kiva.org. Kiva is an organization that provides microloans to entrepreneurs to help start businesses to support themselves and their families or communities. Once the business is up and running, the borrower pays back the loan, and that money can then be loaned out to another person.
We athiests are often put down by the religious as being cold and uncaring. Guess what group is one of the largest lenders on Kiva? Atheists! We have outloaned the Christians and other religious groups by a large margin (about 5 million dollars worth!). So if you are in a giving mood, I can't think of a better place to put your money.
