And may it continue to dwindle into oblivion.

World religion sees Africa as open for business and American evangelicals are going in there as well as the catholic church and Islam.

In Europe, religion is still on the rise if we take into consideration Islam. The far right sees the christian religion as a bastion in their fight against Islam and a basic symbol of their white cultural identity.

I see Africa as the new "13th century Europe".  It's vast uneducated population is ripe for the Catholic Church to spread it's poison of myth and magic and zombie jesus.

Funny (in the sense of irony, and not humor) that the more educated a population becomes, the less need of magic and superstition.

One can hope that, indeed, it will continue to dwindle in the US and Europe.

Right now, the problem is Africa.  A largely illiterate and uneducated population is grist for the Vatican's mill and a means for the church to sustain itself in the face of the disaffection and aging of its current support base.  I would like to see Africa denied to the RCC, though it would likely require some kind of secular mission to do so, a mission at least as well manned and funded as the Vatican's effort is.

Otherwise, it will be one more population which will have ultimately to unlearn what it is taught and indoctrinated by the representatives of the catholic church.
