I'm done. How can I keep voting for these people? Are these stances different from the Republicans? Sure, Democrats are fore regulation of banks, and stopping global warming and giving people healthcare in THEORY, but in practice they are Republicans.

I'm going Socialist and/or Green party, with some independent thrown in from now on...to hell with the Democrats.

Did I mention that I make over 40,000 a year, buy the best health insurance my corporate job offers, and I still can barely pay my medical bills? Oh, and I have no serious conditions.

I was joking but there may have been a subliminal, just below the surface memory of something I saw before... must be a sign of aging. You prompted me to look, there is a group with that name. Maybe I saw it on Nexus? coffee party usa. I can't make an opinion based on the little that I read but it's always worth seeing what people have to say.

I've heard of the Coffee party...but I haven't heard about them much.

I really think we need to start backing third party-ish candidates like the Tea Party did. That gets voters out and has the power to maybe move a party some. We need progressive challengers to ever weak Democratic seat.

Let me be clear: I will never vote for a Republican. That's not at issue. I will also continue voting. I may vote for individual Democrats that I know have supported the causes that I hold dear, but voting for the re-election of Obama? I don't think so. I'm hoping for a solid challenge in the Democratic primaries, although the entire party is so gutless that seems unlikely.

I think Louis has it best, do I want something useless that will destroy the system eventually, or something that will actively destroy the system.

I look at it this way:

You have scurvy and want some orange juice, but you only have three glasses in front of you:
1) is filled with water
2) is filled with poison
3) is filled with -- maybe a little orange juice, you can't tell because it's so little

They're each pointless in their own way. The water will at least sustain you though not deal with your more pressing issue. The poison -- well... The glass with maybe a little bit of sort of orange juice might deal with your pressing issue, but it doesn't look like it'd be enough to actually fix anything.

I can assure you that life in America would be much worse had we elected McCain. Many Dems asked the same question during the Bush/Gore campaign, but few now claim that there was no difference between the two.

I like the label Independant.
