It turns out that anyone can reserve a ticket with the private space exploration company Space Expedition Curaçao  to orbit for $95,000 USD.  That's less than most people's mortgages.  To my surprise there are several private space exploration companies out there competing for dominance of space tourism (in low orbit).  Perhaps the most high profile of these is Richard Branson's Virgin Galactic.

Civilians are lining up for the opportunity to go into space within the next 2 years.  Even the Canadian comedy character Bubbles nearly had his chance. Where does this leave NASA?
