Biblical theme park receives 40 million in tax breaks

Kentucky is quickly turning into Disneyworld for Creationists.  The state has awarded $40 million in tax incentives (tax breaks) to a proposed "Ark Experience."  The project will include a full-sized wooden ark, an aviary, and curiously... a "replica" of the Tower of Babel.

Set to open in 2014, the park will cost approximately $150 million.  "Governor Steve Beshear announced his support of the for-profit endeavor early on, announcing that it would bring nearly 900 jobs to the state, including almost 550 full-time jobs." (LINK)  Creation Science crank Ken Ham estimates that the park will bring in at least $250 million in the first year of operation alone.

Predictably, there has been considerable backlash to the idea of government support for the project:

“The state of Kentucky should not be promoting the spread of fundamentalist Christianity or any other religious viewpoint,” said the Rev. Barry W. Lynn, executive director of Americans United, in a statement.

Last time I was in Orlando, Forida I noticed a 'Visit the Holyland' theme park. WTF? I'm afraid to guess what it is.
