People are not willing to pay a membership fee. There are not enough atheist organizations or nonreligious companies willing to buy ads targeted to an atheisit website. Theist organizations buy ads based on keywords, and those are the ads that appear. Quite literally, since the theist ads support nexus, you can thank god for atheist nexus.
