And no baby yet.

Wife was technically due the 16th, but she carries longer. Law of averages and all that (in order for the "average" woman to carry to 40 weeks then it stands to reason that for every woman who labors at 38 weeks there must be one who labors at 42 weeks... or something like that. I'm not great at the maths). Our first was induced at 6 days past "due," and our second at 17 days past "due," and this one doesn't look like she's going to break the mold in that respect. We do have a tentative eviction date of next Friday for the little womb occupant, but it would be nice to be surprised before then.

Anyway, I do at least count myself lucky in that I don't think we've had to put up with too many "Childbirth is such a miracle" comments. Those bug the crap out of me. Childbirth is NOT a miracle, by ANY definition. It happens thousands of times on a daily basis and is completely and totally explainable and explained by NATURAL occurrences! I'm not sure what pisses me off more, when people call ordinary, every-day things a "miracle" or when they call some small bit of luck in a HUGE tragedy a "miracle." (i.e. the tornado wiped out this entire section of a town leaving hundreds dead and thousands more homeless... but this puppy survived in a hole for five days! It's a miracle!)

In other news, I'll start substitute teaching for my wife next week (for her maternity leave). I get to teach some dystopian literature. YAY! (non-sarcastic. I actually do enjoy that kind of thing.)

Not much else going on at the moment. I'll be sure and post when the newest little bilge-rat makes her appearance among the rest of us gas breathers. That's all for now though.

Oh, and FTR, I call my little ones "Bilge Rats" and "Swabbies" only in the most endearing of terms. ;-)

No worries there, Rusty. I love my kids more than anything in the world...

Except maybe a nice MLT. A Mutton Lettuce and Tomato sandwich where the mutton is nice and lean and the tomatoes crisp. They're so perky... I love that.

(points if you catch the reference)

P.S. if the economy doesn't get better I think they'll be sticking around longer than I did with my parents! LOL

Yeah, it's actually kind of a cool deal because I already know a bit about the kids and they know I can report directly to her the same day if they get out of line! MWAhahaha!
Honestly, I'll probably be meaner than she is though, so I'm not worried about it.
Also it means we get to recoup some of the losses we'll be taking from her unpaid time off she has to take (not enough sick leave accrued to cover all 8 weeks). Subs only get about half of what teachers make daily, but it's better than a stick in the eye anyway.
