Comment by Maruli Marulaki on November 14, 2011 at 2:00am I got curious about Unitarian Universalists. Therefore I have been reading about a dozen home pages from different Unitarian Universalist churches, I googled for pictures of some churches. I saw a video of one of their ministers preaching, but he talked and talked, but I could not get any sense or information from what he said.
This blog entry is the summary of my research and my interpretation of this amazing phenomenon.
'They created the unitarian universalist church.'
This sentence is a vague statement. I was not really interested, who actually founded and those UU churches. Someone noticed a demand and catered for it by creating the UU movement. My focus was the question, why it attracts people, who call themselves atheists.
Comment by Napoleon Bonaparte on November 14, 2011 at 1:33am Who are 'they' in the third sentence, 'They created the unitarian universalist church.' Unitarianism and Universalism have a long history within the Christian Church in Europe. Are you referring to a church by that name started in America in the 1960's ? If 'they' are really Atheists suffering from cognitive dissonance they should get psychiatric help. Maybe there are tax concessions and exemptions to be gained if an Atheist organisation calls itself a church. I think so but you need to ask an accountant. Is that helpful ?
