As I write this, I am enjoying a nice ice cold cola. You might call it a victory cola. Let me tell you why.

This afternoon I got into a very heated argument with a member of the ODOH concerning my licensure. During this exchange I told him that " his program was unconstitutional because of its requirement for the teaching of"religious history" of tattooing".

I have personally fought this requirement from the first day it was read to me during my initial shop inspection. I informed the inspector that from that point  I would not allow him or any other state official make any requirement for me "an atheist"to be exposed to any form of religion. I also told him he could stick Jesus Christ up his ass. The look on his face was priceless.

During our crossfire on the phone.....His response was that" they no longer have that requirement".

AND Rightfully SO.

I dont understand for the life of me how studying bronze age tattooing methods and some bat shit crazy beliefs that these flesh engraved symbols had back then can even translate to 21st century style of aseptic tattooing.

The bigger relief is knowing that not another secular citizen will ever have to bear witness to religious teaching in his or her training mandated by the state of oklahoma to get their tattoo/body piercer license.NEVER AGAIN!

One voice has the power to make long lasting change. Let your voice be heard.

Oklahoma. Is that a great state, or what?! I fail to see any relevance of ancient tats (which are biblically forbidden) to the incredible art form it has become today. Thank you for bringing us one baby-step closer to reason and sanity.

i've got no problem with everyone saying "merry christmas" on christmas day.  however, they've turned it into an entire holiday season where it lasts a month or more.  in those situations it should be perfectly acceptable to say "happy holidays" or call it a…

My first funeral as an atheist

I posted the bulk of this on another thread, but wanted to add some context separately.

I finally confronted my faith and embraced the fact of my atheism late last August, 2012. Days after I revealed my "epiphany" to a few friends who knew me from another message board, my sister died from Lou Gehrig's Disease (which pissed her off because she hated catching a disease from someone she never f---ed).

THAT was my sister, understand? She was a beautiful, life-loving, potty-mouthed…

Death of a family member

OK. I am venting. My mother died two weeks ago. She was a “god fearing christian.” Before her death she refused all medical treatment. She wanted to be left alone. She even refused to speak with my brother who is a methodist minister. He is a pip, let me tell you! I suspect she did not believe, but a woman born in her time could not and did not state her actual beliefs. This is the opening salvo to all christians; FUCK YOU! I had so many people come and tell…
