I have often wondered how different we (royal humanity we) would have been if the Neanderthals had survived along side us into modern day.

Imagine a world with two data points of intelligence and consciousness instead of just one.

Imagine developing along side another thinking species, seeing the differences as well as the similarities play out in real time.

What would it be like to meet a mind that evolved along side us, from the same basic lineage, and yet was decidedly not us.

Would they see the world as we do?

Would they share our faults and our triumphs?

How would their myths compare to ours?

Would they have a different way of thinking that would lead them into different places and different thought patterns?

So many questions that could be answered had we a second data point with which to compare ourselves too.

@FG Haa Haaa, how true.

@Rob I know its more then likely we would have killed them off. Especially considering that we are here and they are not.

If we cannot even stand something that is so similar to us as a species. I don't think we will fare well if we meet some other intelligence out there in the universe.

Hmmm... interesting thought.

I fear that their myths would be different from those of humans, and that it would not have ended well. Humans can't even stand each others God, let alone one of another species.
