I think The Blasphemy Challenge is a brilliant initiative for a number of reasons;

It plays a part in consciousness raising - making it obvious to the world that we infidels are numerous beyond popular speculation. I also think that the challenge might, over time, empower the idea that being religious is embarrasing, and we make no reservations when it comes to lashing out.

I think it might have an impact on the number of Atheists who make themselves known as such, and who dare to have themselves counted. I think it plays a role in exposing the fear with which religion dominates so many people around the world, thus allowing us to stab it in the heart.

I think it forcefully plants the notion the we DO NOT BELIEVE IN HELL! And thus don't mind selling our 'souls' to the imaginary enemy of the pious bigots of the world. So to you pious morons out there STOP THREATENING ME WITH HELL FIRE! I DON'T BELIEVE IN HELL! IS THAT SO DIFFICULT TO GRASP?!?!

I do not live in the US - So I cannot really participate in the full shebang - but the initiative is worthy enough to take only as far as the uploaded video.

So in support of this initiative I shall lay out the instructions here:

You may damn yourself to Hell however you would like, but somewhere in your video you must say this phrase: "I deny the Holy Spirit."

Why? Because, according to Mark 3:29 in the Holy Bible, "Whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven; he is guilty of an eternal sin." Jesus will forgive you for just about anything, but he won't forgive you for denying the existence of the Holy Spirit. Ever. This is a one-way road you're taking here.

Once you have shot your blasphemous video, just follow these two easy steps:

1. Go to http://www.youtube.com/video_response_upload?v=i7QVbJnSPQE on YouTube to upload your video as a "Video Response" to the Blasphemy Challenge. (You can log in or register on that page if necessary.) Please put the URL http://www.blasphemychallenge.com somewhere in the text description when you upload your video.

2. When the video appears on YouTube, send the URL to this email address: waronchristmas@hotmail.com. Also include a complete United States mailing address* so we can send your free copy of The God Who Wasn't There.

I have to agree with Johnathan. The Blasphemy Challenge might not be to everyone's liking, but we need to make as much noise as possible. And we need many different kinds of voices. Some people can take the quiet, under-the-radar approach, but we also need people pushing harder at the fringes - the 'atheist fundamentalists', as they'll no doubt be tarred and feathered. Just to open up some space for the rest who can then be the 'moderates', if you will.

(By the way, and I know it's unnecessary to say this to this group of people, there is no such thing as a 'fundamentalist/radical atheist'.)

Although I share many of your sentiments. I must confess that I worry about the notion of a quiet uprising. I do not believe that any minority group seeking notice will ever attain anything other than ridicule if it were done in the 'politically correct' manner whilst 'not hurting anybody's feelings'.

Death of a family member

OK. I am venting. My mother died two weeks ago. She was a “god fearing christian.” Before her death she refused all medical treatment. She wanted to be left alone. She even refused to speak with my brother who is a methodist minister. He is a pip, let me tell you! I suspect she did not believe, but a woman born in her time could not and did not state her actual beliefs. This is the opening salvo to all christians; FUCK YOU! I had so many people come and tell…

Unbelievable!!!!!!!!

This probably should not have shocked me as much as it did (especially since I am in Texas). I actually thought my coworkers were playing a joke on me because they know I am an atheist. Sadly, this was no joke. This actually happened.

I work in a psychiatric hospital. The doctors who admit patients are general MDs. (Psychiatrists see patients after admission) Yesterday evening we received several calls from irate parents. A new doctor who was doing admissions yesterday actually…

anti-atheist rant from an Orthodox Mormon part 2

What do you think of this,

Nathan Young,

No Jason Torpy it is you that should be banned for promoting atheism, a belief that has no foundation in reality and zero proof behind it.  The letter was a mockery of your atheist beliefs.  I request to the board here that they remove Jason for his unverifiable beliefs in atheism for which he has no proof other than his arrogance.  The letter was a mockery of atheism.  Atheism is stupid and it should be mocked and it…

Anti-atheist post from an Orthdox Mormon

What do you think of this Facebook comment?

Nathan Young to Jason Torpy,

for once you and I can agree on something.  We should disrespect beliefs that are untenable such as the belief that there is no God.  Indeed for me to respect you Jason, I cannot respect your belief in non-belief in atheism.  Your atheism comes across as arrogrance, smugness, and self righteous.  Indeed after reading "An Open Letter to My Religious Friends" I penned one…
