What am I going to believe? This is a question Ken 'The Lie' Ham posed a week or so back. This is my response

1. Observed and observable reality. That is, anything that can be seen, touched, communicated with or observed.

2. Anything that denies or defies observable reality can almost certainly be rejected.

3. The Lord of the Rings, the Narnia Chronicles, the Bible and the Discworld series are all fantasy books. They share common themes e.g. gods, magic, miracles and mythologies that defy or deny observable reality.

4. Science isn't perfect, but it's far removed from the imperfection of religion. Scientists are, by and large, honest people who sometimes make mistakes. These mistakes can be rectified.

5. Science and religion are not two faces of the same coin. They are not even the same currency.

6. Scientists who are religious, or religious people who claim to be scientists, should really consider why they are scientists or why they are religious.

Religion is for idiots and those who exploit them, and Ken Ham knows how to manipulate gullible American citizenry for financial gain. He is a successful businessman. Most people in his home country would tell him to 'fuck off' so he went to the USA where there's plenty of prey.

So you should tell him to 'fuck off' too. He is too ridiculous to shoot, I think.

I like your post.  I think it's very well stated.

Personally, since escaping religion, I am going to believe nothing.  I will accept what science has good evidence to support.

I agree whole heartedly with most of your 6 points above. Maybe I would have said some of it differently, but I really like the fact that you said science and religion are not even the same curency. Ham and his religious friends are ignorant and will always be ignorant. Here is one reason why:

Why won't god heal amputees? This is a website and a good question. A few atheists appear to even disagree with it, but some species can re-grow missing limbs. Man is not one of them. God doesn't heal amputees because he doesn't heal anybody.

Now ask a religious person this question and he says none of it is true. He claims Jesus healed the lepers and leprosy eats away flesh and fingers, etc. He then opens his bible and say to you "the bible says." He goes on and on to prove his point while I'm laughing my ass off. (They just don't get it do they?)

THE BIBLE.  THE GREATEST PROOF IN THE WORLD . . . . .. .of something. What?
