I'm kind of torn as to which friend requests to accept. Should I accept all and make lots of new friends, or should I just accept people I know so that my list has some meaning for me? I'm going with everyone for the time being. It is a social networking site, right?

What about people who are smoking cigarettes in their profile photos? I don't want to be friends with smokers because they'll kill me!

Well, M.J., that makes you more successful than I. So we should be friends here.

I used to work at a library.

I think you should add me, 'cause we share a birthdate and I once seriously wanted to be a librarian! (and I have no friends here ... yet)
Happy Birthday -- I'm going to send you a friend request now. :o)

It's the opposite concern for me; I don't want to come across as the creepy old guy who requests "friendship" just because someone lives in the same region I do, so I'm torn when it comes to clicking the "add as friend" link. Accepting isn't an issue for me. I've accepted both friend requests I've received so far! :)

Anyway, I'm glad I got my request in while you're still accepting everyone.

I'm going with everyone too. You never know when someone could turn out to be useful...

Personally I'm a fan of at least taking a look at what the possible friend has to say and which groups they belong to (etc etc etc). It's easy enough to just have a bunch of little pictures there but without at least a shred of interest they're nothing but little pictures.

Just my opinion, I could be wrong.

I would vote for the latter, every atheist needs more friends imho. :)
