Nilknarf Daily Haiku
the moon... ah, the moon...
emphasizes out closeness;
and stars, the distance.

A quite beautiful day....

I didn't get up as early as I intended, but it worked out all OK anyway.

I got out to Duanes' place about 09:45, and we went down to his friends' pond, and I caught 0 fish, and he caught about five little ones, bass and crappie.

He had to meet a neighbor about 12:30 so we quit the first pond and then he remembered that the neighbor that he was meeting had a good bass pond; and after they took care of business (Duane has a machine shop, and was repairing a shaft for the fellow) Duane asked him if it was still OK to be fishing it... he hadn't for a few years.

Well, the OK was given, and the lock on the gate was discussed, and the neighbor left and we ate some hotdogs....

And proceeded to the pond. It was a hassle to get to, even after we got through the gate, but it was well worth it.

It has been a long, long time since I had been fishing, and this pond, not the first one, was magnificent.

I caught about fifteen nice bass, all of them good fighters, in the three hours that we were there.

Some of them were about 2.5 pounds, and they hit in the middle of the pond, so there was lots of fight time... adrenaline-making fun!

JD called me just as one hit my lure, so he got a little of the experience.

One helluva fun day, and I hope to experience that more frequently in the future. Fishing has been on my back burner for way too long.

Tomorrow, another appointment, this time with the defibrillator/pacemaker lady at the cardiologists... she will get a surprise from my initial lesson for Thor, I'm sure!

Did I mention that this has been a wonderful day? Fishing on a farm pond catching vibrant fish on a beautiful fall day with my best friend since Junior High... how could it get any better?

Thanks, Duane, for the wonderful day!

And I'm just really physically drained... fishing is a lot of work. I need to do a lot of work on a daily basis (starting with cleaning out the shop) so I can start sleeping better (I will tonight!) and also working=getting stuff done that needs to be done... something I've been getting a grand FAIL!!1! on lately.

Betterness is anticipated.
