Comment by Joan Denoo on July 5, 2012 at 3:00pm I agree! "A Compilation of Bblical Quotations" "I love it. It's like hitting them on the head with their own belief system."
As as old Sunday school teacher, I followed the guidelines of the teaching material and didn't read the stories directly from the Bible. Had I done so, I would have been outraged. The basic, fundamental principles are clearly delusional, sick, and just plain evil! I hope everyone puts it on their social network pages.
I was just about to go to the bible to look up some of the murder scenes and low and behold, here came your comment with Barbara's Compilation. Perfect !!!
Comment by Richard Goscicki on July 5, 2012 at 2:03pm Joan, my mistake. I assumed you read Barbara's Compilation, being I posted them around the same time. Barbara passed out a few hard copies of "A Compilation of Bblical Quotations" and said I could put it on the Internet for her. So I posted it on my blog and then added it as the epilogue to Mirror Reversal.
Later I told Barbara, "I love it. It's like hitting them on the head with their own belief system." Here's the link. If you haven't read it yet, you're in for a treat. I especially like the Deuteronomy stuff. “If an intruder breaks into the house and the wife touches his private parts she must have her hand amputated.” Stuff like that.
I couldn't make this up if I tried. Perhaps just place the link on Facebook as you post the essay. As you can surmise, we’re pretty anti-war and violence. So when she noticed that in the same book of Exodus that lays down the commandment, “Thou shall not kill,” the Lord God orders the massacre of thousands of people. That’s what gave her the idea.
Comment by Joan Denoo on July 5, 2012 at 12:59pm Thanks for the authorization. However, I do not understand what you mean by Compilation. If you mean the list of book, chapter, and verse of offenses, OOPPs, If you don't want that published on Facebook, I shall go back and delete them ... I assumed, prematurely perhaps, that was for general consumption. These citations need to be seen by the general public, in my opinion. I know, we will all get back-lash but isn't that what keeps us from being effective and efficient in bringing about fundamental change?
Comment by Richard Goscicki on July 5, 2012 at 12:14pm Joan, certainly. Barbara gave me carte blanche to do with it as I wish. I'm sure she'd be flattened that you liked her essay. Facebook is fine.
But not so for the Compilation, as Mirror Reversal and this blog are the only places to read it.
