This is my simple religion. There is no need for temples, no need for complicated philosophy. Our own brain, our own hearts is our temple, the philosophy is kindness.

For what it is worth, there are two Dalai lamas now waiting in the wings the Chinese government has chosen one the other is claimed to be a reincarnation of the current one ???. That being said common sense and kindness are better than any religion. Temples cost money always have always will. The people of Tibet have had to give their sons to the monasteries for
decades, their daughters were sold, as usual the women lost out. As a woman religion does nothing for me.

Years ago the Dalai Lama was invited to a panel discussion with a Catholic priest and Rabbi (and NO this is not the start of some joke). They were asked what they would say if irrefutable proof was found that God did not exist. The priest and the Rabbi could not entertain the hypothetical non-existence of God even for argument’s sake. The Dalai Lama answered last but without hesitation and said “I would let my followers know that there is no God and that I was wrong.”

Whether you believe in his religion or not at a minimum his honesty is worthy of our respect.

How is that related to Dalai Lama?

Because reincarnation is downright silly and nonsensical and I don't just reserve my disdain and mockery for Christians.

to whomever replied to this, why such anger, hatred and bitterness?

I've always kinda wondered just how much attention will be paid (I suspect none) by the world's media when the current old guy departs and is re-incarnated in an infant.

Just imagine a few years hence a slightly lanky teen with a whisper of whiskers and a cracked voice attends a UN Summit on the Chinese rule of Tibet and the long-serving secretary general approaches.

"Hello.....again." "How have you been?" .... "Yes, I understand. Puberty can be a bitch."

If you look real hard, there's a Twitter link, similar to the tweet widget on your profile page -

I'm sure it's there for no reason. And I'm sure the person that spent a couple of hours constructing a blog that you just bumped off the main page really appreciates the time, effort and detail of your contribution.
