Just a quick note to say that Atheist Nexus is now my online social networking site because I quit facebook. I just couldn't stand to be a part of them after they caved to islam. My family and friends are mad at me, but I think I'll be ok. I might go through a few withdrawals when I can't read what my sisters horoscope says or how much luck my niece has on her luck meter today. Oh well, I suppose I'll just have to take it one day at a time.

Woo! I also applaud your editing to remove an improper period! Yeah!

@Tom Thompson: I assume he means how they removed the "Mohammad Day" facebook group.

@Aaron: Do what you need to do, and good for you for doing it!

Me, I'm hopelessly addicted to facebook.. I hope Atheist Nexus grows bigger though, I find it moves a little slow for me information-wise. I'm used to a much faster paced social network.

Facebook does cave to Islam. I know several people whose profiles were deleted b/c Muslims didnt' like what they had to say. OKcupid has also censored things about Islam, while not censoring the equivalents about Christianity.

I thought the everybody draw muhammed day was removed by the people who started the group because the "day" was over. There are quite a few fan pages and groups left with the cartoons. Either way, religion deserves continuous ridicule and scorn by educated, intelligent, and civilized people.

I read in a news article that Facebook removed the page themselves after Facebook was boycotted and banned from Pakistan by court-order or something.

Ha I'm the generation thats said to be addicted to Facebook but I quit their site too. It had to do with the realization that alot of time in my life was spent posting on that damned site! When I die, would I regret not posting more inane crap on that stupid site, or would I regret not hiking the beautiful Colorado mountains out my door? If you quit dont be surprised if people think youre mentally ill or depressed. Now any time not used for school I use to blog and I limit that to only an hour a day and only on political issues. No more 5 hours spent aimlessly perusing profiles! YAY!

I quit , too many security problems and the muslim thing were enought to push me past my tolerance point.

I never used facebook, but one thing I must say "It is not a proper time to quit, one should stand with them at this time for the reason of protecting Freedom of expression".

My first funeral as an atheist

Posted by Two Cult Survivor on May 21, 2013 at 11:30am 0 Comments

I posted the bulk of this on another thread, but wanted to add some context separately.

I finally confronted my faith and embraced the fact of my atheism late last August, 2012. Days after I revealed my "epiphany" to a few friends who knew me from another message board, my sister died from Lou Gehrig's Disease (which pissed her off because she hated catching a disease from someone she never f---ed).

THAT was my sister, understand? She was a beautiful, life-loving, potty-mouthed…

Death of a family member

OK. I am venting. My mother died two weeks ago. She was a “god fearing christian.” Before her death she refused all medical treatment. She wanted to be left alone. She even refused to speak with my brother who is a methodist minister. He is a pip, let me tell you! I suspect she did not believe, but a woman born in her time could not and did not state her actual beliefs. This is the opening salvo to all christians; FUCK YOU! I had so many people come and tell…

Unbelievable!!!!!!!!

This probably should not have shocked me as much as it did (especially since I am in Texas). I actually thought my coworkers were playing a joke on me because they know I am an atheist. Sadly, this was no joke. This actually happened.

I work in a psychiatric hospital. The doctors who admit patients are general MDs. (Psychiatrists see patients after admission) Yesterday evening we received several calls from irate parents. A new doctor who was doing admissions yesterday actually…

anti-atheist rant from an Orthodox Mormon part 2

What do you think of this,

Nathan Young,

No Jason Torpy it is you that should be banned for promoting atheism, a belief that has no foundation in reality and zero proof behind it.  The letter was a mockery of your atheist beliefs.  I request to the board here that they remove Jason for his unverifiable beliefs in atheism for which he has no proof other than his arrogance.  The letter was a mockery of atheism.  Atheism is stupid and it should be mocked and it…
