The spill – a slick more than 130 miles long and 70 miles wide – threatens hundreds of species of wildlife, including birds, dolphins, and the fish, shrimp, oysters and crabs that make the Gulf Coast one of the nation's most abundant sources of seafood.
Although the cause of the explosion was under investigation, many of the more than two dozen lawsuits filed in the wake of the explosion claim it was caused when workers for oil services contractor Halliburton Inc. improperly capped the well – a process known as cementing. Halliburton denied it.
They deny it how unusual ? How is it that Halliburton raises its ugly head whenever something really nefarious and damaging occurs? And, why would I not be surprised if I heard that Halliburton has opened a new division that will provide coastal cleanup services and then get a cost plus no bid contract from the government? Nah! That couldn't happen.
One expert also cautioned that if the spill continues growing unchecked, sea currents could suck the sheen down past the Florida Keys and then up the Eastern Seaboard.
Under pressure from Congress and an inquiring media, Halliburton began a controlled leak of information about its role in the big gulf oil spill today, but things could get quite explosive if they appear to be hiding something.
...snip...
The WSJ (Russell Gold and Ben Castleman) reported earlier today
that Halliburton "didn't respond" to questions about its role in the spill. That's odd, given that, as the Journal reported, an independent expert noted that "the initial likely cause of gas coming to the surface had something to do with the cement," and the fact that Halliburton "was handling the cementing process on the rig."
Halliburton, Goldman - Sachs, Massey Energy, etc., when will our congresscritters admit that corporations such as these and their ilk are toxic assets in America's portfolio? They are toxic to our economy, to the health, welfare and lives of the citizens, to the environment and to the future of not just the US but of the world.
The SCOTUS has bequeath “person-hood” on these entities – an invisible person that is above the laws that govern mere meat persons, an immortal person....hmmm..that sounds suspiciously like …. uh... never mind.
There are more than teabaggers pissed at the government, there are some of us also pissed at the corporate criminals that Congress is dancing around in their Kabuki costumes.

Comment by Joseph Corder on December 8, 2012 at 1:15pm Hey, I saw on Rachael Maddow show and in the 70s(I believe) that there was a similar spill. She showed a side by side comparison and the only difference between the 2 were the style of clothes! The same procedures were used to stop the flow of oil(in BOTH CASES, in the same order, with Exactly the same results)!!! NO NEW TECHNOLOGY WHAT SO EVER! Some of the same players in both instances (I don't know which) have changed their names to protect the guilty!!
