personally i wouldn't hate church as much as many atheists would. i would bring a notepad and recording start writing down points of contention to use against the preacher if i was ever to debate him and debate him i would. nobody gets to have the luxury of not knowing that there is an atheist among him. always after the sermon i would raise my hand and ask questions about what he said with specific arguments against them.


why don't you try it? if not arguing, just ask lots and lots of questions and bring up "well what about this?" a lot.

I'm sure your mother would tear you out of church in a heartbeat. The approach is not for the faint of heart though.

@ Johnny Its called Lighthouse church and I'm 19. I can't afford student housing so I have to stay at home.

what kind of church do you go to and how old are you? are you gonna be out soon?

when intelligent debate meets an unintelligent belief, the belief almost always wins... it's a sad truth.

In cases like that all you can do is stick it out. I generally say that if you are too selfconscious to debate me and risk giving up your beliefs stay with your cult. I don't pull the punches anymore. My mom is upset about my atheism but she is a "new age" theist so she tries to tolerate it more even though she slips up every now and then.
