Atheist Comedian/Songwriter Tim Minchin Could Have Christmas Hit

Wouldn't it be cool to have a freethinker's song remembered as a popular Christmas song? Help spread the word. There's a chance Tim Minchin's song White Wine in the Sun could go to the UK Top 40, which would make it the first openly atheist Christmas song to do so. (It's already #67 on the UK Top 100!)

If we try to spread the news and make it go viral, it could push it over the top before December 25th rolls around. He just needs a few more downloads from iTunes. More details here: Atheist Comedian/Songwriter Tim Minchin Could Have Christmas Hit

Sorry to hear it didn't make the top 40, but it's good that it did so well.

I also noticed that the single says "spooky", and I agree "dodgy" is better. I wondered if this was an attempt to make it more American-friendly (dodgy isn't used that much in the US, but I've heard my British friends say it pretty often).

The highest I saw it was #67. It then fluttered down and up, sometimes off the chart, sometimes back on. Apparently it got airplay on the BBC chart countdown show, so I guess when they picked the top songs to play, it was still on the list. Maybe next year it will be more well-known and might have another shot at the top 40. Certainly if Minchin re-records it. I personally like the version with 'dodgy' better than 'spooky', which is what the single has. But it did amazingly well, nevertheless. Considering that the single was only available on iTunes around Dec 13th.

Do you know how high it got in the ratings?

Love this song. I had no idea this song was getting to be so popular in the UK, that is excellent news!

The song is on the US iTunes store here, but I doubt it'll do anywhere near as well here, unfortunately...
