Logically,the basic meaning of life is to LIVE,and reproduce.
This applies to all living things from the tiniest microbe up to the largest living thing.Period.

Don
four primary needs according to some experts are safty, food, sleep and reproduction. Orignal discussion included two life and reproduction. I took safty or survival as life. So it wouldn't' include food and sleep as you mentioned if we take it as safty need.

Don, I totally agree. In fact I literally had "thinking about the meaning of life" and changed it to "worrying" for that exact reason. Thinking freely on anything is a good thing.

@don
When talking in terms of need "life" is taken in meaning of survival. Four phisological or primary needs are taken as survival(safty need), food, sleep and reproduction. I accomodated life for the first.
Pleasure is both physical and psychological imacts of fulfilment of needs.

Those who spend time worrying about the meaning of life are doomed to let life slip by.

If we look at the meaning of life in context of needs,
First come the primary needs. You have mentioned two out of four i.e. live and reproduce. Other two are food and sleep.
Then comes the secondary needs. Both mental and asthetic are included.
Purpose of life - pleasure
Meaning of pleasure - Fulfilment of needs

Life is what you make of it, hence the meaning of life rests with the individual. Simply find out what it is about life that makes it worth living and you'll have your answer.
