A Democratic China Would Reduce American Power

The establishment of full fledged democracy with free and fair elections and the rule of law in China is considered highly desirable by most Americans. I agree it would be. However, a democratic Chinese government would be better able to entice its neighbors in Asia as well as non-western countries generally into joining a coalition led by them to overturn the existing global order dominated by the West. If the U.S. government were to become insolvent (quite possible by 2025), China, India and other non-western nations may even be able to force the West into joining a democratic world government with one person, one vote. Such a system would drastically reduce the power of western governments. An outcome like this would be good for the world as a whole but would at least temporarily reduce Americans' standard of living. For those of you are interested, you can find out more about this very plausible scenario in my book:

"Looking Backward:2050-2013". Just type in the key words "Ravi Morey" into the amazon.com or barnesandnoble.com website and the title will immediately pop up.

I wish you an exciting read!

Yes, I do address the issue of the United Nations and how it is transformed into a genuinely democratic world government in the 2020's and 2030's. The reason I give for China and India behaving differently than America today is first, these nations do not share the missionary impulse that has animated America and Britain and second, they would have the lion's share of the power in any world government based upon one person, one vote. There are many details, including answers to possible objections that cannot be answered here included in the book. I therefore urge you to read the book!

P.S.: The book is quite humorous and includes the election of Sarah Palin as president in 2020!

Do you address why you think reducing the influence of western countries in the global power structure is a good thing? I'm suspicious that the problems of the world in new hands would simply be the same problems of the world in new hands. Being a global economic superpower comes with responsibilities whether that superpower would like them or not. I don't see why China would not work to protect its assets and influence the world stage in much the same pattern as American interests have influenced the world. Additionally, there is already a global democratic assembly. The United Nations has 193 member states with one vote each exercised in the General Assembly. The UN Security Council, which actually has the power to commit to policy, has 5 permanent members with veto power, with one being China. The 10 non-permanent members are voted by the General Assembly. I think its obvious the true power is held by the permanent council members and any change in global power structure would come from changes in those seats. Do you address the existence of the UN in your book and how it relates to your thesis?
