Clicking on ads will give the site owner funds. The more you click the more beneficial to the site AND the more the advertisers have to pay :)

I am a web developer. If you don't believe me Google Adwords and read all about it. So start clicking ;)

Actually the fact that you've probably visited sites where religion was discussed increases your count of religious sites. The algorithms don't know why you were at those sites. But it's cool that religious sites help pay for the atheist site. Isn't that special!!

[Couple of years ago I was reading a news article about a judge convicted of bribery. At the bottom of the page came one of those auction site ads (don't remember which site) which declared "buy judges now on sitex.com"] Love it.

I could care less.My understanding (and I could be wrong) is similar to that which Loren stated. They're advertisements done in conjunction with the host site for A|N.  Besides, if posting ads for "Christian Singles," "Billy Graham Crusades," or "How to Become an Ordained Minister - Amaze Your Friends and Terrify Your Enemies" helps pay for a bunch of atheists to get together, I think it's funny. Kind of like having your soon-to-be ex-spouse pay for your divorce.

I agree; let them spend their advertising money here.

Like Loren, I use Firefox and Adblock Plus (and also NoScript); it makes for a much calmer web experience!

It bothers me a little, but my thoughts are like Prog Rock Girl's.  I'm glad they're wasting their time and money here.  That means they will have less influence in other places.

I also agree with Loren.  Firefox is a good thing to use.  I'm not using it until I get my new computer because I have a few problems with it as my computer is 5.5 years old.
