May I make a suggestion? Why not push for a law that requires all politicians to take a (or a number of) science class(es) on the scientific method and a (or a number of) class(es) on sceptical thinking and pass an exam before they can RUN for office (not take office). That will insure that not only the politicians who hold office will have a basic understanding of science, but those who have tried to hold office. Most people think that teaching our kids is the best way to promote secularism, but I think we need more!!! What do you think?

Now I would like to see a poll of the group that say that "God created humans in present form within the last 10,000 years" asking them what career they have chosen. WHAT A FUCKIN' SURPRISE IT WOULD BE IF THE MAJORITY OF THAT GROUP CHOOSE POLITICS?!?!?!?!?
Comment by AtheistTech on January 17, 2013 at 12:38pm Am I to understand that the fundamentalist or evangelical will never be influenced by anything other than the Bible and their leaders? What about the rest of the religious people? I believe there are many more of them than fundamentalists and evangelicals. I'll be back after I find some information on the number of fundamentals vs. religious people in the USA. Until then, just sit there and quake in your boots!!!!!
Taking a class is easy. Doesn't mean it will change the fundamentalist or evangelical, or their Dominionist agendas. It would just be a hoop to jump through, and they would gladly take one for the team if it paved the way to a political seat.

There is a video of the Pope's 'exorcism' caught on film. The man isn't demon possessed, there are likely no 'real' demons. He's just delusional and doesn't want to accept personal responsiblity for his own behavior for his own dysfunctional life.

There is an ad that reads ' Do you support 'traditional' marriage? Vote Now"! .
No, I don't support 'traditional' marriage because there is no such thing. I support heterosexual and same-sex couples marry each other legally , yes. 'Traditional' marriage promoters largely do not believe that heterosexual women are co-equal to their husbands. Their only purpose in 'traditional' marriage is to sexually satisfy their husbands if they can and raise children and do all…

i've got no problem with everyone saying "merry christmas" on christmas day. however, they've turned it into an entire holiday season where it lasts a month or more. in those situations it should be perfectly acceptable to say "happy holidays" or call it a…

I posted the bulk of this on another thread, but wanted to add some context separately.
I finally confronted my faith and embraced the fact of my atheism late last August, 2012. Days after I revealed my "epiphany" to a few friends who knew me from another message board, my sister died from Lou Gehrig's Disease (which pissed her off because she hated catching a disease from someone she never f---ed).
THAT was my sister, understand? She was a beautiful, life-loving, potty-mouthed…
