As many of you know, Atheists are the one of the fastest growing groups in the world. In the US, atheists are the second largest 'religious' group! Worlwide, atheists are the third largest!

Yet if you're an atheist looking to get involved in helping the world move beyond religion and pseudoscience, it can be hard to know where to begin! There are secular groups scattered everywhere.

What if there was one website for getting involved in the cause?

Cue SecularAction.org. This site will collect all of the ways you can get involved: Teach a class on science. Donate to a cause. Meet other atheists. Volunteer. The list goes on!

The beta site is live now: www.SecularAction.org. The next version (with concrete actions you can take) is slated for May. If you'd like to get involved, please contact me at michael.trollan@secularaction.org. We'll need help maintaining the events list, updating the PHP and Wordpress, spreading the word, and much more.

Rock on! No one else has collected all of these in one place. I have the major events listed already (http://www.secularaction.org/events), and have local groups coming a bit later this year too.

Just finished the design for version 2.0, which launches next month. Very excited about it. Who was the person who mentioned it in the meeting? I'd like to reach out to him to see how the site can serve his needs as it develops.

At a local meetup of atheist community of san jose (http://www.meetup.com/Atheist-Community-of-San-Jose/), the leader mentioned the need for a site listing all the events (meetups, conferences, etc.), and I pointed him to this.

The site's looking good.  Keep it up.

Daniel - I have added the first pass at the about page. More to come for sure.

Great feedback!

I'll whip up an About Us page. I was focused on getting my video complete to put at the top of the about page, but why wait? I'll put something up in the meantime!

I had been ruminating on how to present the thousands of local events on a map, while still incorporating the dates of the events in a meaningful way. I believe I've finally solved it. I'm working on a mockup of the solution right now. I'm glad to hear that you also think this would be useful!

Good idea.  Looks like this will be a good site.  It would be good if you can add an About Us page.

Here's an idea...  If you could somehow get a map that collects all of the local events (speaker events, conventions, the thousands of atheist/humanist/freethinker meetup groups, ...), that would be pretty amazing.
