Not shovelling my walks for the church goers today.

Last week when it snowed, I shovelled my walks, primarily for the church-goers across the street.

Today the wind chill is -26 F. Nope. Not doing it today, city trustee or no.

The village has an ordinance which says walks must be shovelled by 8 AM, however, there are no police to enforce it.

And since we bought our new car, the old scary one with all the religious freedom and Eris-supporting bumper stickers are gone so they do park on our side of the street now.

And right now it's even colder: the temp is supposed to get to -20F (-29C). We're not talking wind chill here.

The air is so cold when I open my door to let the dog out, the warm air rushes out and the water instantly condenses into fine snow.

I don't blame you!  Anyway, I thought they weren't parking on your side of the street.

-26? How can you move your fingers to type?

Most places give you a 24 or 48 hour period after it stops snowing.  Surely your township does the same, doesn't it?

If it's your sidewalk it's a liability thing. Although what time do you have to get up to do it?

I, too, live out in a rural area? Do the church goers shovel a walk for you to get the feed store?

You need a better excuse than "wind chill". Chilblaines or frostbite? Headache?

What kind of god expects people to go to church when it's -26 F outside?

Awww, c'mon!  What's a little windchill among friends?  All you really need is, say, five or six layers against the cold and you'll be JUST FINE!

Actually, you're displaying a trait which some of those church goers could stand to learn: discretion.  Meantime, those who are nuts enough to go out in that icebox are displaying another trait: insanity!
