. . . but someone has to take it and it might as well be me. As a writer and sometimes humorist I could be banned for life from the Writer’s Guild for not picking the low fruit. I ran upon this large sign in Barnes & Noble while book shopping.

I stood there for a moment and thought, “George Carlin has returned and resorted to practical jokes.” Then I began to think about it and the humor became unbearable until I laughed aloud startling a couple of Bible beaters lost in their stand-up routines. One of them asked me what was so funny, so, I told him “the sign.” Of course, he replied that he failed to see any humor in the sign. I knew it was worthless but I took a chance and said, “It’s kind of redundant, don’t you think?”

Again, I heard the sound barrier crack as that one sped past, but the glazed look remained. He asked, “What is so funny about the sign Christian Fiction?”

“You’re kidding me, aren’t you; I asked and broke into unrestrained laughter even though it wasn’t that funny. That the young man failed to make the connection was funny, but not in a ha-ha way. True believers as comedic as they might be—are frightening. Nevertheless, if you’re in any bookstore looks for the Christian Fiction section. I guarantee a good laugh.

Reminds me of the a comment that an evangelical made to me in another forum.

Maybe we use more of our mind because of our faith.

Thanks - that's so funny and so true.

It is all fiction.

I'm going to watch that link. Funny, even when I was a kid the entire creation and invisible man in the sky never sat well with me.

Not just a misnomer but an oxymoron as well.  Shoot, why don't we have Judaic Science, Islamic Science or Confucian Science as well?

Coincidentally, I just got done watching a talk by Richard Carrier on "Why Science is Better Than Religion and Always Has Been."  It does a pretty effective job of dismantling religion as a source of reliable knowledge while reinforcing science as the primary means of such knowledge.  Be warned, the cameraman does NOT know what he's doing, but the talk is worth your time anyway.

Christian Science. If ever there was a misnomer that has to be in the top ten.

I also like the bookstore I came across in London: Christian Science.
