As we enter the "myth" season of the year, its time to look at all the wonderful things that are going on in the secular movement.
First, the movement is going strong. A lot of new faces are showing up at secular "Meet-up" events all over the nation.
Second, There are a lot more "Camp Quests" opening all over the place. This is a great sign! Its important that we teach children that its "OK" not to believe in God.
Third, American Atheists is launching a lawsuit against the IRS over the tax status given to churches. This is BIG!!!! The taxation of churches could benefit the tax coffers of many states and municipalities.
There is a lot more going on that could fill tons of page here. I just don't have enough time to post them all.
Its always important to remember that the movement belongs to the people. Lets keep the movement strong for 2013.
Lets do it for HITCH. Merry Hitchmas!!!!!

Comment by James Kz on December 25, 2012 at 9:50am I suspect American Atheists will be told they have no standing to bring such a suit. Every suit brought before about the Johnson Amendment against the IRS has been resolved the same way.
And for such things as voter guides in the pews, even if a priest or pastor would not do such a thing in his church, they cannot watch all the pews, and anyone can slip them in.
On top of that, the IRS has no clear instructions for enforcing the Johnson Amendment, so they don't.
It would take an Act of Congress to require that agency to enforce it, with appropriate penalties, and no Congresscritter would dare threaten the tax status of churches. It would be political suicide, with no result.
