The coolest fucking thing ever.
Some of you may not know this, but my wife and I are voluteers for Camp Quest Oklahoma. We had our first camp this summer with 34 campers.
This year we posted a "wish list" on amazon.com with lots of items needed for camp. Just for fun we put two very high end items to see if just by chance we coul get something cool for camp. One of the items was a $300 Tesla coil.
On Saturday a big package was delivered.
I'm still in shock.
Inside was the Tesla coil.
Our sincere thanks to Bruce and evrryone at The Atheist Community of Northwest Arkansas for this wonderful solstice gift. This opens up a whole new world of discovery & science experiments & discussion.

Way cool! I didn't even know that something like this existed. It is definitely on my back burner for when/if I ever have kids. :)

Way to go, Atheist Community of NW Arkansas!
This is a good idea & example for all of our little sub-communities and meetup groups. I'll try to get our local group to do something similar. We already have occasional volunteer events, but a gift to someone like Camp Quest is something else we could do.
