I got the link to this from the Skepchick website. Don't know if anyone else here has posted it: http://wonkette.com/491587/indiana-wingnut-will-require-teachers-to...

Comment by Bud the Wonderer on December 17, 2012 at 7:56pm How about a law requiring that all 'supernatural events' expounded upon in a house of worship be required to be empirically tested for the truth?

Comment by James Kz on December 15, 2012 at 10:04am The idea is not to pay (any amount) for truth.
The idea is to stifle truth. One could take the putative student and ask from where his question arises. Then turn around and ask the same question: why do you believe it is true?
Comment by Loren Miller on December 15, 2012 at 9:20am Terrific. As a response, I would create a course aimed specifically at the process and theory of evolution, designed to tackle the subject with the requisite level of detail. The problem with such a course is that it would without a doubt have to deal with the subject material at the college level, probably requiring field trips to repositories where fossils and other evidence are stored. In addition, radiometric dating techniques and their bases in physics would also have to be part of the curriculum and include the attendant calculus and chemistry skills which derive the salient data.
The students would no doubt get a most thorough education. Also a costly one. My question to the Indiana wing-nut politician mentioned above is this: are you willing to PAY for your proof?
